Job Description

Lobby Lounge Waiter

As a Lobby Lounge Waiter, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to guests in the lobby lounge of a hotel or upscale establishment. Your role will involve delivering prompt and attentive service, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Guest Service**: Greet guests warmly as they enter the lobby lounge, seat them at tables, and provide menus. Anticipate guests’ needs throughout their dining experience and provide personalized recommendations as needed.

2. **Order Taking**: Take guests’ food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, using knowledge of the menu to describe dishes, answer questions, and make suggestions based on guests’ preferences.

3. **Food and Beverage Service**: Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously, ensuring accuracy in orders and presentation. Handle special requests or dietary restrictions with care and attention to detail.

4. **Upselling**: Proactively promote menu items, specials, and upsell opportunities to enhance guests’ dining experience and increase revenue for the establishment.

5. **Table Maintenance**: Monitor tables for cleanliness, clearing empty plates, glasses, and utensils promptly to maintain a tidy and inviting dining environment.

6. **Beverage Preparation**: Prepare and serve beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, according to guests’ preferences and established recipes. Ensure proper garnishing and presentation of beverages.

7. **Cash Handling**: Process guest payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system, handle cash transactions, and reconcile checks at the end of each shift.

8. **Team Collaboration**: Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other waitstaff to coordinate orders, ensure timely service, and maintain smooth operations in the lobby lounge.

9. **Safety and Sanitation**: Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including proper food handling practices, cleanliness standards, and compliance with alcohol service regulations.

10. **Customer Relations**: Build rapport with guests, engage in friendly conversation, and address any concerns or feedback promptly and professionally to ensure guest satisfaction and loyalty.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience as a waiter or server in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting, with a strong focus on customer service and guest satisfaction.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
3. Knowledge of food and beverage preparation techniques, including wine service, cocktail mixing, and proper tableside presentation.
4. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks to meet guests’ needs and maintain service standards.
5. Basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions and operating a POS system.
6. Professional appearance and demeanor, with a polished and well-groomed appearance consistent with the establishment’s standards.
7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the demands of the business.
8. Compliance with legal age requirements for serving alcohol, if applicable.
9. Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures, menu items, and service standards.
10. A positive attitude, enthusiasm for hospitality, and a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
