Supply Chain Manager

A Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the entire supply chain process, from sourcing raw materials to delivering products or services to customers. They work to optimize the supply chain, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supply Chain Strategy:
   • Develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy to meet organizational goals.
   • Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain.
2. Procurement:
   • Oversee procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management.
   • Ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials and components.
3. Inventory Management:
   • Optimize inventory levels to balance between having enough stock to meet demand and minimizing carrying costs.
   • Implement inventory control processes and track stock levels.
4. Production Planning:
   • Collaborate with production teams to ensure production schedules align with demand forecasts.
   • Monitor and adjust production plans as necessary to meet changing customer needs.
5. Logistics and Distribution:
   • Manage transportation and distribution processes to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
   • Optimize transportation routes and reduce shipping costs.
6. Quality Assurance:
   • Implement quality control processes to ensure product and service quality throughout the supply chain.
   • Address quality issues and coordinate with suppliers to resolve them.
7. Supplier Relationship Management:
   • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to enhance collaboration and address issues promptly.
   • Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.
8. Cost Control:
   • Identify opportunities for cost reduction within the supply chain and implement cost-saving initiatives.
   • Monitor and analyze supply chain expenses.
9. Risk Management:
   • Identify and assess supply chain risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential disruptions.
   • Develop and maintain a contingency plan for supply chain disruptions.
10. Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Use data and analytics to evaluate supply chain performance and make data-driven decisions.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on supply chain KPIs and performance.
11. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a team of supply chain professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and training.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field. A master’s degree is often preferred.
• Proven experience in supply chain management, with a strong understanding of supply chain processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong negotiation and contract management abilities.
• Proficiency in supply chain software and technology.
• Effective leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of industry best practices and trends in supply chain management.
