Job Description

General Maintenance (skilled)

As a Skilled General Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks across the property, ensuring that all facilities are in excellent working condition. Your role includes troubleshooting issues, conducting repairs, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Repair and Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
    • Troubleshoot and repair issues in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
    • Address maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
  2. Preventive Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities.
    • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal operation.
    • Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  3. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all work is performed by safety regulations and building codes.
    • Identify and report any safety hazards or maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
    • Use protective equipment and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  4. Equipment and Tool Management:
    • Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
    • Keep maintenance areas clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and supplies.
    • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and request replenishment as needed.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, contractors, and departments.
    • Assist in training and guiding less experienced maintenance workers.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues about ongoing projects and maintenance needs.
  6. Customer Service:
    • Interact with guests and staff professionally and courteously.
    • Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff promptly.
    • Ensure minimal disruption to guests during maintenance activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a skilled maintenance worker or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, or painting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification or vocational training in a relevant trade is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the property for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.

Work Environment:

  • Indoor and outdoor work environments with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Interaction with guests, staff, and external contractors.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and potential hazards from tools and equipment.
