Job Description

Pool Cleaner

As a Pool Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and proper functioning of the pool facilities. This includes cleaning the pool and surrounding areas, checking and maintaining water quality, and ensuring the pool is safe and welcoming for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pool Cleaning:
    • Skim and remove debris from the surface of the pool.
    • Vacuum and brush the pool floors and walls.
    • Clean and sanitize pool tiles, ladders, diving boards, and other fixtures.
  2. Water Quality Maintenance:
    • Test and balance pool water chemistry, including pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and calcium hardness levels.
    • Add chemicals as needed to maintain safe and balanced water conditions.
    • Record and report water quality data to the Pool Manager.
  3. Equipment Maintenance:
    • Inspect, clean, and maintain pool equipment such as pumps, filters, and heaters.
    • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
    • Ensure all pool maintenance tools and supplies are properly stored and in good condition.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure the pool area complies with health and safety regulations.
    • Monitor and maintain pool safety equipment such as life rings and emergency phones.
    • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Pool Manager promptly.
  5. Facility Upkeep:
    • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the pool deck, lounge chairs, and surrounding areas.
    • Empty trash cans and ensure waste is properly disposed of.
    • Set up and take down pool furniture and equipment as needed.
  6. Customer Service:
    • Greet and assist guests courteously, providing information and addressing any concerns.
    • Ensure the pool area is welcoming and enjoyable for guests.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in pool maintenance or a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of pool cleaning and maintenance techniques.
  • Familiarity with pool chemicals and water testing procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Basic understanding of pool equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Certification in pool operation (CPO) or willingness to obtain certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the pool area for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment and supplies (up to 50 pounds).
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor pool area with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Interaction with guests and hotel staff.
