Waitress
A waitress is a front-of-house staff member responsible for providing excellent customer service in a dining establishment. This role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring customers have a pleasant dining experience. The waitress plays a crucial role in maintaining a positive and welcoming atmosphere, as well as assisting in the overall operation of the restaurant or café.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Greeting customers warmly, attending to their needs, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout their visit.
- Taking Orders: Accurately recording customers’ food and beverage orders, making note of any special requests or dietary restrictions.
- Serving Food and Beverages: Delivering orders promptly and efficiently to the appropriate tables while ensuring accuracy and presentation.
- Table Setup and Maintenance: Preparing tables before and after service, ensuring they are clean, properly set, and well-stocked with necessary items (utensils, napkins, condiments, etc.).
- Knowledge of Menu: Familiarity with menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, to answer customer questions and make recommendations.
- Upselling: Suggest additional menu items, specials, or desserts to enhance the customer’s dining experience and increase revenue.
- Handling Payments: Processing payments accurately and promptly, including cash, credit cards, or any other acceptable forms of payment.
- Resolving Customer Issues: Addressing any customer concerns or complaints professionally and promptly, seeking assistance from a supervisor if necessary.
- Teamwork: Collaborating with other waitstaff, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service and overall restaurant efficiency.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Adhering to proper food safety and hygiene standards, keeping work areas clean and organized.
- Assisting with Restaurant Tasks: Supporting other restaurant tasks such as restocking supplies, cleaning dishes, and performing opening or closing duties.

- Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating bills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Previous experience as a waitress or in the hospitality industry is beneficial but not always required.
