Waiter / Waitress

A waiter/waitress is responsible for ensuring an exceptional dining experience for customers by providing excellent customer service, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. They play a crucial role in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Greeting and Seating: Welcome customers as they arrive, show them to their tables, and provide menus. Assist with seating arrangements and ensure the comfort of guests.
2. Order Taking: Accurately and promptly take food and beverage orders from customers, ensuring attention to detail and noting any special requests or dietary restrictions.
3. Serving: Deliver orders to tables in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and proper presentation. Provide recommendations and answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods. Serve beverages and refill glasses as needed.
4. Upselling and Specials: Promote daily specials, recommend additional menu items, and upsell to enhance the dining experience and increase revenue.
5. Customer Service: Provide attentive and friendly customer service throughout the dining experience. Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, seeking assistance from management when necessary.
6. Payment Processing: Present bills to customers, process payments accurately, and return change or process credit card transactions. Maintain confidentiality and ensure secure handling of financial transactions.
7. Table Maintenance: Set up tables, including linens, silverware, and glassware, and ensure they are clean and presentable. Clear and clean tables after customers leave, ensuring proper sanitation standards are met.
8. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations, efficient service, and customer satisfaction.
9. Knowledge of Menu and Specials: Stay updated on menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and any daily specials. Be prepared to provide accurate and detailed information to customers.
10. Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the dining area and workstations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not always required. On-the-job training is often provided.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Basic math skills for order taking and processing payments.
• Ability to work well within a team and collaborate with colleagues.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
