As a waiter, your role is to provide excellent customer service to guests in a restaurant or hospitality establishment. Here’s an overview of the key responsibilities and duties typically associated with the role:

  1. Greeting and Seating Guests: Welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant, escort them to their tables, and provide menus. You’ll ensure that guests feel welcome and comfortable from the moment they enter the establishment.

  4. Food and Beverage Service: Serve food and beverages to guests according to established service standards. You’ll carry trays, plates, and glassware safely, present dishes attractively, and ensure that guests have everything they need for an enjoyable dining experience.
  5. Table Maintenance: Monitor tables throughout the meal service, clearing empty plates and glassware, and resetting tables for the next guests. You’ll maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the dining area, ensuring that tables are clean and properly set at all times.
  6. Upselling and Promotion: Utilize suggestive selling techniques to upsell menu items, specials, and beverages. You’ll inform guests about promotions, recommend complementary dishes or drinks, and maximize sales opportunities while enhancing the guest experience.
  7. Payment Processing: Present the bill to guests, process payments accurately, and provide receipts and change as needed. You’ll handle cash, credit card transactions, and electronic payments securely and efficiently, ensuring accuracy in all financial transactions.
  8. Guest Relations: Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any inquiries, concerns, or special requests they may have. You’ll strive to anticipate guests’ needs, exceed their expectations, and create a positive dining experience.
  9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other restaurant staff, including kitchen, bar, and host/hostess, to ensure smooth operations and timely service. You’ll communicate effectively with team members, assisting each other as needed to meet guest needs and maintain high standards.
  10. Cleaning and Closing Duties: Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of the shift, including clearing tables, wiping down surfaces, and restocking supplies. You’ll contribute to maintaining a clean and organized restaurant environment for the next service.
