Job Title: Waiter/Waitress

Job Description:

As a Waiter/Waitress, you will be a pivotal part of the dining experience, responsible for providing excellent customer service to guests and ensuring their satisfaction throughout their meal. Your primary role will be to take orders, serve food and beverages, and attend to guests’ needs in a prompt and courteous manner. This position requires a friendly and professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities:

1. Welcome guests as they arrive, escorting them to their tables and presenting menus.
2. Provide recommendations and describe menu items to guests, answering any questions they may have about the food and beverages.
3. Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring that special requests or dietary restrictions are communicated to the kitchen staff.
4. Input orders into the point of sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
5. Deliver food and beverages to guests’ tables promptly, ensuring that all items are presented correctly and according to the guest’s specifications.
6. Check back with guests periodically to ensure they are satisfied with their meals and promptly address any concerns or requests.
7. Anticipate guests’ needs and provide attentive service throughout their dining experience, including refilling drinks, clearing plates, and offering dessert or additional items.
8. Process guest payments accurately, handling cash and credit card transactions with professionalism and discretion.
9. Assist in setting up and breaking down dining areas, including cleaning and sanitizing tables, chairs, and condiment stations.
10. Collaborate with kitchen staff and other members of the front-of-house team to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
11. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including side stations, server stations, and service areas.
12. Adhere to health and safety regulations and sanitation practices at all times.
13. Attend pre-shift meetings and training sessions to stay informed about menu changes, special promotions, and service standards.
14. Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and courteously, escalating issues to management when necessary.

Requirements:

1. Previous experience as a waiter/waitress or in a customer service role is preferred but not required.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
3. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, especially during busy periods.
4. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
5. Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
6. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
7. Basic math skills for processing payments and handling cash transactions.
8. Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods and lift trays and dishes as needed.
9. Professional appearance and demeanor.
10. Knowledge of food and beverage offerings is a plus.
