Job Description

Hostess

As a Hostess, you will be the first point of contact for guests entering the restaurant, responsible for providing a warm welcome and ensuring a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive. Your friendly demeanor, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere and efficient seating process. This role requires a courteous and organized individual with a passion for hospitality and customer service.

Responsibilities:

1. Greet guests as they enter the restaurant with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
2. Manage the seating chart and allocate tables to guests based on their preferences, party size, and server availability.
3. Maintain accurate waitlists during busy periods and provide estimated wait times to guests.
4. Escort guests to their tables and present menus, ensuring they are comfortable and informed about any specials or promotions.
5. Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to coordinate seating and ensure smooth table turnover.
6. Handle guest inquiries, reservations, and special requests professionally and courteously.
7. Assist in answering phone calls, taking reservations, and confirming bookings as needed.
8. Monitor the dining area to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adherence to health and safety standards.
9. Assist in setting up and breaking down the hostess station, including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, menus, and condiments.
10. Collaborate with other front-of-house staff to provide excellent service and resolve any guest issues or concerns.
11. Uphold the restaurant’s standards of hospitality and professionalism at all times.
12. Stay informed about menu items, daily specials, and restaurant promotions.
13. Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the guest experience and operational efficiency.
14. Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on restaurant policies, procedures, and service standards.

Requirements:

1. Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is preferred but not required.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
3. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, especially during busy periods.
4. Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
5. Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
6. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
7. Basic computer skills for managing reservations and seating charts.
8. Professional appearance and demeanor.
9. Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the restaurant comfortably.
10. Knowledge of food and beverage offerings is a plus.
