Job Description

Demi Chef de Partie (DCDP)

As a Demi Chef de Partie (DCDP), you will play a vital role in the culinary team, assisting in the preparation and cooking of food within a specific section of the kitchen. Reporting to the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of dishes while also supervising junior kitchen staff. This position offers an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals to further develop their skills and progress in their career within a dynamic kitchen environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in preparing and cooking food items according to standardized recipes and specifications.
2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of Commis chefs and kitchen assistants assigned to your section.
3. Ensure that all food items are prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality, freshness, and flavor.
4. Monitor food production to maintain an efficient workflow and meet service deadlines.
5. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, guiding cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen procedures.
6. Maintain cleanliness and organization in your section of the kitchen, including equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas.
7. Assist with stock rotation, inventory management, and ordering supplies as directed by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
8. Participate in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control initiatives as needed.
9. Adhere to health and safety regulations and sanitation practices at all times.
10. Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to ensure smooth operation and coordination.
11. Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure that customer orders are prepared accurately and timely.
12. Take pride in maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste.
13. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef to support the overall operation of the kitchen.

Requirements:

1. Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution.
2. Previous experience in a kitchen environment, with at least 1-2 years of experience as a Commis Chef or equivalent role.
3. Strong culinary skills with a focus on quality, creativity, and attention to detail.
4. Leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire junior kitchen staff.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
6. Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
8. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects as needed.
9. Positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
