Job Description

Chef de Partie (CDP)

As a Chef de Partie (CDP), you will play a crucial role in the culinary team by overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes within a specific section of the kitchen. Working under the guidance of the Sous Chef or Head Chef, you will be responsible for ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and consistency. This position requires a skilled and creative chef with a strong culinary background and a passion for excellence.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines.
2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff assigned to your section, including commis chefs and kitchen assistants.
3. Train and mentor junior members of the team, providing guidance on cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen procedures.
4. Ensure that all ingredients are prepared, portioned, and stored properly to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
5. Monitor food production to ensure that orders are prepared and served on time, maintaining an efficient workflow.
6. Maintain cleanliness and organization in your section of the kitchen, including equipment, workstations, and storage areas.
7. Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and cost control initiatives as directed by the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
8. Adhere to health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards at all times, ensuring compliance with local health department requirements.
9. Collaborate with other members of the culinary team to develop new dishes and menu offerings.
10. Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering supplies, and conducting regular stock checks.
11. Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure that customer orders are prepared accurately and timely.
12. Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions to stay informed about menu changes, special promotions, and new cooking techniques.
13. Take pride in maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and flavor.
14. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Sous Chef or Head Chef to support the smooth operation of the kitchen.

Requirements:

1. Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution.
2. Proven experience working as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
3. Strong culinary skills with a focus on quality, creativity, and attention to detail.
4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
6. Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
7. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
8. Passion for food and a commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience.
9. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects as needed.
10. Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow as a chef.
