Job Description

Commis I

As a Commis 1, you will be responsible for supporting the kitchen team in the preparation and production of high-quality dishes. Under the supervision of senior chefs, you will perform a variety of tasks to contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation:
    • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including cutting, chopping, and measuring.
    • Follow recipes and guidelines provided by senior chefs.
  2. Cooking:
    • Cook and assemble dishes according to established standards and recipes.
    • Monitor cooking processes to ensure proper temperature, timing, and presentation.
  3. Kitchen Maintenance:
    • Keep workstations clean and organized.
    • Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in good working condition and report any issues to senior staff.
  4. Stock Management:
    • Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels.
    • Notify senior chefs of low stock items in a timely manner.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions from senior chefs.
  6. Adherence to Hygiene Standards:
    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with food safety regulations.
    • Follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
  7. Quality Control:
    • Participate in quality control measures to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary school education or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions.
