Hostess F&B

The F&B Hostess is the first point of contact for all restaurant guests, responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring smooth seating operations. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, a warm personality, and the ability to manage guest flow while maintaining high service standards. The hostess sets the tone for the dining experience through professional greetings, accurate reservations management, and attentive coordination with service staff.


Detailed Responsibilities

1. Guest Reception & Seating Management

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival
  • Manage reservation system (OpenTable, Resy, etc.) and walk-in seating
  • Escort guests to tables, presenting menus and introducing servers
  • Maintain awareness of table status and server sections for optimal seating
  • Handle special requests (anniversaries, allergies, VIPs) with discretion
  • Manage waiting list during peak periods with accurate wait time estimates

2. Reservation & Booking Administration

  • Answer phone calls and manage email reservations promptly
  • Update floor plans and seating charts in real-time
  • Confirm reservations via phone/email/SMS as per policy
  • Maintain guest database (preferences, special occasions)
  • Coordinate with events team for large party bookings

3. Restaurant Operations Support

  • Prepare daily covers report for kitchen and service staff
  • Monitor table turnover and communicate with servers/bussers
  • Maintain pristine entrance area (menu displays, host stand)
  • Assist in setting up/breaking down reception area
  • Manage coat check service (where applicable)

4. Guest Relations & Service Coordination

  • Provide accurate information about menu, promotions, and hours
  • Handle guest complaints initially, escalating when necessary
  • Liaise between guests, servers, and kitchen staff
  • Support takeaway and delivery order management

Required Skills & Qualifications

✔️ Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years in host/hostess or front-of-house role
  • Hospitality or tourism education
  • Additional language skills
