Job Description
Job Summary
A Truck Driver is responsible for transporting goods and materials over land. In Albania, this typically involves navigating a mix of modern highways and challenging, winding mountain roads. Drivers must ensure the safe, timely delivery of cargo while maintaining the vehicle and adhering to strict transit regulations.
Key Responsibilities
-
Transportation: Drive long distances to deliver goods to customers or distribution centers.
-
Loading/Unloading: Oversee or assist in the loading and securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
-
Vehicle Inspection: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluids).
-
Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of working hours, fuel consumption, and delivery receipts (CMR for international transit).
-
Navigation: Use GPS and route-planning software while remaining flexible enough to handle road closures in rural areas.
## Licensing & Requirements
To drive commercially in Albania, specific qualifications are mandatory:
-
Driving License: A valid Category C (Rigid Truck) or Category CE (Articulated/Heavy Truck) license.
-
CAP (Dëshmia e Aftësisë Profesionale): This is the professional competence certificate required for all commercial drivers in Albania.
-
Digital Tachograph Card: Required for monitoring driving and rest times in modern fleets.
-
ADR Certification: Necessary if you plan to transport hazardous materials (fuel, chemicals).
## Market Outlook & Salary (2026)
The logistics sector is currently one of the highest-paying vocational fields in the country due to a significant shortage of qualified drivers.
| Route Type | Average Monthly Salary (Net) | Key Perks |
| Domestic (Local) | 70,000 – 90,000 ALL | Be home most nights. |
| International (Balkans/EU) | €1,500 – €2,500+ | Per diems and higher base pay. |
-
Growth Areas: Many opportunities are opening up with companies involved in the Corridor VIII infrastructure project, which links Albania to North Macedonia and Bulgaria.
## Working Conditions
-
Schedule: International drivers often spend 1–2 weeks on the road, followed by several days of rest.
-
Safety: You must follow the “Road Code of the Republic of Albania,” which aligns closely with EU standards regarding mandatory break periods.
-
Technology: Most large fleets now use telematics to track fuel efficiency and driver safety.
Note for International Drivers: If you hold a license from outside the EU or the Western Balkans, you may need to undergo a license conversion process or additional testing once you obtain your residence permit in Albania.
