Waiter – Food & Beverage


Department: Food & Beverage / Restaurant
Reports to: Restaurant Manager / Head Waiter

Job Summary:
We are looking for a professional, courteous, and energetic Waiter to join our Food & Beverage team at a Restaurant/Hotel. The Waiter is responsible for providing an exceptional dining experience to our guests by delivering prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities Waiter:

1. Guest Service Excellence:

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide them with menus.

  • Take accurate food and beverage orders, ensuring all special requests, dietary restrictions, or allergies are noted.

  • Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally according to the restaurant standards.

  • Provide recommendations and detailed knowledge about menu items, ingredients, and wine pairings.

  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, concerns, or complaints, escalating when necessary.

  • Ensure guest satisfaction at all times and strive to exceed expectations.

2. Food & Beverage Knowledge:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the menu, including daily specials, new dishes, and beverage offerings.

  • Explain menu items clearly to guests and provide suggestions based on guest preferences.

  • Assist guests in selecting food and beverage combinations for an enhanced dining experience.

  • Understand portion sizes, presentation standards, and service etiquette.

3. Table Setup and Maintenance:

  • Prepare tables, including setting tableware, glasses, napkins, and condiments.

  • Ensure tables are clean, tidy, and fully stocked before guests are seated.

  • Clear and reset tables efficiently after guests leave while maintaining hygiene standards.

  • Monitor the dining area to ensure it remains clean, organized, and visually appealing throughout service.

4. Teamwork and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other servers to ensure smooth service.

  • Communicate guest orders accurately and promptly to the kitchen and bar.

  • Assist colleagues during busy periods to maintain high-quality service.

  • Attend team briefings and provide feedback to improve service standards.

5. Compliance and Safety:

  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations in accordance with local laws and company policies.

  • Handle food and beverages safely, avoiding cross-contamination and maintaining proper storage.

  • Be aware of emergency procedures and report hazards or incidents to management immediately.

  • Ensure proper handling and care of all restaurant equipment and utensils.

6. Cash Handling and Point of Sale:

  • Process guest bills accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system.

  • Handle cash, credit cards, and digital payments securely and responsibly.

  • Balance cash register and submit end-of-shift reports as required.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Food & Beverage Server, Waiter, Waitress, or in a similar hospitality role.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in hospitality or F&B service is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tables efficiently.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.

  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist colleagues.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications Waiter:

  • Experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, or international restaurants.

  • Knowledge of wines, cocktails, and other beverages.

  • Multilingual skills to communicate with diverse guests.

  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory tracking.
