Job Description

Head Waiter

As a Head Waiter, you will oversee the front-of-house team, ensuring that guests receive exceptional service throughout their dining experience. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the restaurant’s operations during service, leading and mentoring staff, and ensuring smooth communication between the kitchen and the dining area.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise Service Team
    • Lead, train, and manage the waitstaff to ensure they provide excellent customer service. Moreover, assign tasks and stations to waiters, ensuring all tables are adequately covered. Additionally, ensure all staff maintain high service standards and adhere to restaurant policies.
  2. Guest Interaction
    • Greet and seat guests with a welcoming and professional demeanor. In addition, handle guest complaints or concerns promptly and efficiently to ensure satisfaction. Also, provide recommendations on menu items and assist with special requests or dietary needs.
  3. Coordination with Kitchen and Bar
    • Work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate food and beverage delivery. Furthermore, communicate special requests or modifications to kitchen staff and ensure they are fulfilled properly.
  4. Quality Control
    • Ensure food and beverages are served with proper presentation and meet quality standards. At the same time, monitor the cleanliness and organization of the dining room, including table settings and service stations.
  5. Staff Training and Development
    • Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff on service techniques, restaurant policies, and health and safety regulations. Consequently, conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback to improve service.
  6. Managing Reservations and Seating
    • Oversee the reservation system, managing bookings and ensuring proper seating arrangements for guests. In this way, coordinate with the front desk to handle guest flow efficiently and minimize wait times.
  7. Health and Safety Compliance
    • Ensure that health, safety, and cleanliness standards are followed at all times. As a result, conduct regular inspections of dining areas and staff behavior to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Head Waiter or senior waiter in a high-volume restaurant setting is required.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to resolve issues calmly and professionally.
    • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including wines and cocktails.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry heavy trays for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move items such as trays, stock, and restaurant supplies.
