Job Description
Waiter/Waitress
As a Waiter/Waitress, you will be responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences to guests by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Your role includes maintaining a clean and organized dining area and delivering high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Service:
- Greet guests promptly and courteously upon arrival.
- Present menus, answer questions and make recommendations on menu items.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff.
- Order Delivery:
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure orders are accurate and presented according to the restaurant’s standards.
- Check on guests periodically to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any issues promptly.
- Table Maintenance:
- Set up dining tables with clean linens, silverware, glasses, and condiments.
- Clear and reset tables promptly after guests depart.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area throughout service.
- Billing and Payments:
- Prepare guest checks accurately and promptly.
- Process payments using the restaurant’s point-of-sale system.
- Handle cash, and credit card transactions, and issue receipts.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of orders.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to address guest needs and concerns.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Follow all restaurant policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a waiter/waitress or in a customer service role preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and making changes.
- Knowledge of food and beverage menus and service standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays of food and beverages for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying items up to 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a restaurant environment, including exposure to heat, noise, and various cleaning agents.
Work Environment:
- Dining area and kitchen within the hotel, resort, or restaurant.
- Frequent interaction with guests, staff, and management.
