Job Description

Waiter/Waitress

As a Waiter/Waitress, you will be responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences to guests by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Your role includes maintaining a clean and organized dining area and delivering high standards of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Guest Service:
    • Greet guests promptly and courteously upon arrival.
    • Present menus, answer questions and make recommendations on menu items.
    • Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff.
  2. Order Delivery:
    • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner.
    • Ensure orders are accurate and presented according to the restaurant’s standards.
    • Check on guests periodically to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any issues promptly.
  3. Table Maintenance:
    • Set up dining tables with clean linens, silverware, glasses, and condiments.
    • Clear and reset tables promptly after guests depart.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area throughout service.
  4. Billing and Payments:
    • Prepare guest checks accurately and promptly.
    • Process payments using the restaurant’s point-of-sale system.
    • Handle cash, and credit card transactions, and issue receipts.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of orders.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and management to address guest needs and concerns.
    • Assist colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment.
  6. Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards.
    • Follow all restaurant policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
    • Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a waiter/waitress or in a customer service role preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Basic math skills for handling payments and making changes.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage menus and service standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays of food and beverages for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying items up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a restaurant environment, including exposure to heat, noise, and various cleaning agents.

Work Environment:

  • Dining area and kitchen within the hotel, resort, or restaurant.
  • Frequent interaction with guests, staff, and management.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
