Activities Supervisor

As an Activities Supervisor, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of recreational activities and programs for guests. Your role involves ensuring that activities are engaging, safe, and enjoyable, while also managing a team of activity staff and maintaining high standards of guest service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Implementation:
    • Design and develop a diverse schedule of recreational activities, events, and programs for guests of all ages.
    • Ensure activities cater to various interests, fitness levels, and age groups.
    • Promote and advertise activities to encourage guest participation.
  2. Staff Supervision:
    • Lead, train, and manage a team of activity coordinators, instructors, and support staff.
    • Assign duties and schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all activities.
    • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to ensure high standards of service and safety.
  3. Guest Interaction:
    • Welcome and engage with guests, providing information about available activities and programs.
    • Gather guest feedback to assess the success of activities and identify areas for improvement.
    • Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all activities are conducted safely and adhere to health and safety regulations.
    • Perform regular inspections of activity areas, equipment, and facilities to ensure they are in good condition.
    • Develop and enforce safety guidelines and protocols for staff and guests.
  5. Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of activity participation, equipment inventory, and program expenses.
    • Assist with budgeting and financial planning for the activities department.
    • Prepare reports on program performance, guest feedback, and staff performance.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with other departments, such as guest services, housekeeping, and food & beverage, to coordinate activities and events.
    • Communicate effectively with staff and management to ensure smooth operation of activities.
    • Participate in departmental and company-wide meetings and initiatives.
  7. Event Coordination:
    • Plan and execute special events, themed parties, and holiday celebrations.
    • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors as needed for event support.
    • Ensure events are well-organized, engaging, and meet guest expectations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in hospitality, recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a recreational, hospitality, or activities setting.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and energetic approach to activity planning and guest engagement.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the resort for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment and supplies (up to 25 pounds).
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Activity and recreation areas within the hotel/resort, including both indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Frequent interaction with guests, staff, and management.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions when conducting outdoor activities.
